Judge Edward Cutchin was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace, Pct 4, Burnet County , Texas on Nov. 5, 2002 and sworn in on January 1, 2003. His background includes law enforcement, military service, security, investigations, and business management. Judge Cutchin holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University in Virginia and has done graduate work in business administration at the University of Arkansas and Texas A&M. Edward Cutchin is married the former Paula Sue Norman or Amarillo, TX and has two sons, Andrew and Matthew.
Law Enforcement:
Judge Cutchin served for 10 years with the Norfolk Police Department in Norfolk , Virginia , where he worked on patrol, as an accident investigator, and later as a detective investigating robberies, narcotics, and homicides. In addition to his degree from Old Dominion, Judge Cutchin also graduated from the FBI School of Fingerprinting and was certified an expert witness on the subject in the courts.
Military:
Judge Cutchin enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after high school and rose to become an NCO. He worked for the Air Force Office of Special Investigation (OSI) carrying out background checks and other investigations for the Air Force, as well as doing work in counter-espionage and counter-terrorism. Judge Cutchin later received a direct commission through the Air Force's Outstanding Airman program, eventually rising to the rank of captain.
Business:
Edward Cutchin spent twenty years with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service working in and managing their retail facilities. His work took him to a vast range of far off places. Combined with his travels while serving as an active-duty member of the Air Force, Judge Cutchin has traveled to Okinawa, Japan, Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Turkey, South Korea, and others. Judge Cutchin eventually rose to become a District Manager, managing a wide range of facilities across a large area. He also had amazing success mediating labor disputes while in South Korea.
